Bridges scare the life out of me

I have always been fearful of bridges.

  • When I was younger, my mom and I were in the car and we got trapped on a bridge for several hours.

Ever since that problem occurred, I have had PTSD. I try not to cross bridges at all, especially if I have to be in the driver’s seat. When my wife and I decided to sell our house and buy an RV, I knew we were going to be crossing a lot of bridges. I was extremely nervous, but I handled many of them with ease. I crossed the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and I was the one driving. I also crossed the Mississippi River on my own. Nothing prepared me for the San Francisco Bay Bridge. I started getting nervous about crossing the San Francisco Bay Bridge several weeks before we had to drive that part of our trip. My wife urged me not to worry, but I couldn’t stop. We went to a dispensary to get some edibles for the trip. My wife was very nervous that I wouldn’t be able to handle the bridge and she thought that cannabis would be helpful. I had 10 mg of THC Edibles and I smoked an entire 1 gram marijuana joint before we entered the San Francisco area. By the time we hit the bridge, I was ready to pass out and go to sleep. I felt mellow and much less anxious thanks to the marijuana. The dispensary also provided me with a free ½ gram joint and I smoked that on the other side of the bridge.
